Credit Card Debt: Further Exploitation in One Easy Step
Consumers first victimized by exploding credit card balances frequently find themselves worse off after falling pray
to debt r********/debt s********* scams. Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum has sued two debt r********
companies for false or misleading claims, excessive fees and failing to provide services as represented.
I have represented many Iowa consumers victimized by debt r********/debt
s********* companies. Consumers make payments to these companies, supposedly to create a fund to be used
to settle debts. Unfortunately, consumers have found not only do many, if not most, debts not get settled,
but lawsuits are often filed against the consumer because the debt s********* company did not forward payments to the consumer’s
creditors. Instead, the payments were retained by the debt s********* company for its fees.
Because debt s********* companies do not have lawyers in Iowa to defend consumers in lawsuits brought by creditors,
consumers end up with judgments against them and possibly garnished wages or frozen bank accounts. In addition
to the exploding credit card debt, the consumer now has lost substantial amounts of money to the debt s********* company.
Rather than pay a debt r******** or debt s********* company, consumers generally would be better off to consult a
qualified attorney licensed to practice law in their own state. Consumers are likely to find they spend
less for better results.
NOTE: After I posted this blog, my Technorati maintenance of
my blog came to a screeching halt. It seems consumers are not the only ones troubled by debt s********* companies.
Some are prolific spammers. So when I used the words repeatedly, Tecnorati's spam filter apparently could not distinguish
between my blog and spam posted by a debt s********* company. Sometimes computers can be dumber than a fence post.
