Auto Fraud
Auto fraud can take many forms. Typical auto fraud schemes include:
- Rebuilt wrecks - The dealer sells a vehicle to a consumer with undisclosed prior damage. There may also be title fraud problems where the damage is not disclosed on the title or the dealer failed to disclose a branded or salvege title.
- Odometer fraud - Odometer fraud can result from purposefully rolling back an odometer, from failing to disclose an odometer reading is not actual mileage, or from failing to provide required written odometer disclosures.
- Illegal Repossession - Illegal repossessions can take many forms. For more information on illegal repossession please click HERE.
- Yo Yo car sales - A yo yo car sale is where the dealer sells a vehicle, then requires the consumer to come back later and sign documents reselling the vehicle on less favorable terms. For more information on yo yo car sales please click HERE.
- Iowa Lemon Law - The Iowa Lemon Law requires manufacturers of motor vehicles to ensure the vehicles they sell are free of defects and will conform to the requirements set forth by the manufacturer’s written warranty for a period defined by the Lemon Law rights period.
